Description

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Aves
Order: Accipitriformes
Family: Accipitridae
Genus: Aquila
Species: A. ingentes

The great eagles of Western Endor are Midgard's largest ever flying birds, with an average wingspan of 7.3 metres and weighing in at around 72 kilograms, giving the extinct Argentavis and Pelagornis a run for their money. The great eagles are nomadic and their primary range covers much of the Misty and White Mountains, though they often migrate to the Himalayas, with another small population known as marahutes in Izz. They are one of the rarest of sapient species.

Diverging from their golden eagle relatives two and a half million years ago, the ancestors of the great eagles rapidly swelled in size and intelligence, becoming the seventh fully sapient species around 400,000 years ago. Since then the eagles have not produced much in terms of culture and little of their history is known. They do not interact with the other sapiences often and are as such seen as reclusive; the local hominins believe the eagles to be Maiar in bird form. The eagles themselves embrace this idea and generally see themselves as above the ground-dwellers, both literally and figuratively. They only concern themselves with their own affairs, and only offer assistance to individuals who have gained their respect such as Gandalf.

In terms of magical ability, little is known of the eagles. However it is known that they hunt in Oblivion since the spread of civilisation has diminished Midgard’s megafauna. Their hunting grounds include Hircine's plane and Heaven, where they pluck angels from the air.

Looking at this again after seeing your new thing, I fail to see how this bird could have a 7.3m wingspan and still be 3m tall.  Either they've shrunk a little bit, or their wingspan is actually bigger than that now.  Otherwise I'd imagine it'd be a bit disproportionate.

Giant birds are still cool though, so I'd advocate for making its wingspan bigger.  I could just be dumb though, so if that's the case than feel free to hide this.
